Turtle Dove, Lesser Whitethroat

An odd weekend – each day started bright but deteriorated.

In the sun on Saturday morning, a Turtle Dove powering over the fields behind Place Farm was a Firle first of the year, but looked like it was passing through.

And this evening a dingey walk on the escarpment to the West of the Bostal Road produced a Lesser Whitethroat among six or so Commons, plus a couple of Yellowhammers, Linnets, Meadow Pipits and Red-legged Partridges.
