Swallow

Firle Beacon this morning

A lone Swallow over the garden this morning.

Such a summery day, the absence of House Martins seemed wrong, but we’re still a couple of days off their usual return.

Still very few summer migrants around the Park – four each of Blackcap and Chiffchaff this morning, with the usual Buzzards, Jays, Green and Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Treecreeper and Stock Dove all on territory.

One Blackcap, in close proximity to another male, was pulling out all the stops and imitating a Sedge Warbler. What a fancy pants.
