Our local Crane

This magnificent creature has been poking about the fields of the lower Ouse valley for the last few days – and finally gave itself up to the camera today for my fellow blogger Les Bird (no, that really is his name).

With a few now breeding in East Anglia and thereabouts, perhaps we’ll start seeing more touching down in our Sussex valleys on migration. Here’s hoping. I still haven’t seen this one.

  1. Went off in search of the Crane today, and lucky enough to find it (as recorded yesterday) east of the river, in a sheep field, between Piddinghoe and Southease. Also the Rodmell track produced a splendid male Merlin perching on bushes, with some close views.
