Marsh Harrier

A Marsh Harrier reported North over the roundabout at Beddingham today (via Birdguides). This comes after a sightings of two birds south of Bo Peep (Alciston) over the weekend, and a couple at Ringmer a few days ago (both via SOS)

Also recently around Firle: a gathering of at least 130 House Martins (plus a few Sand Martins) at Place Farm on 1 August, but fewer since then; good-size groups of House Sparrows (40-50) and Starlings (50) also in the paddocks at Place Farm on 1 August; Hobby on a couple of occasions the following week, hunting in the same area morning and evening; and the first few migrant Willow Warblers in the village gardens and hedgerows.
