Bit late this… Maybe it’s because the days are getting shorter, or possibly it’s just my faculties going into hibernation.
On Saturday (18th), what might just have been my last four Swallows of the year flew through the village. Sigh.
One or two Chiffchaffs remain, calling quizzically from the gardens. But they’re now well outnumbered by incoming (through-going?) Pied Wagtails, which have been bouncing over the village rooftops and hanging about in frenzied groups in the park.
In Brighton today, a friend took delight in telling me about the Black Redstart he could see from the office window near the train station. Down near the seafront, I made do with Feral Pigeons and Herring Gulls.
