The winter thrushes keep on coming – 240 Redwings and Fieldfares counted by Paul yesterday in the ‘usual’ fields just south of the village centre.
I often hear them over the centre of the village, but you’d never know there were so many so close by.

Last week, a Merlin was seen in the fields behind Place Farm (by Paul Stevens). A good sighting, and rather jealous-making as I’ve yet to see one in Firle.

Brrr. Last Thursday, my first flock of Fieldfares for the autumn flew over the garden – seven chucklers in all.
