On Sunday afternoon, a couple of Little Owls showed at Place Farm in the dying light.
Today, flocks of five and 10 alba wagtails in the paddocks around Place Farm, with more overhead.
Groups of around 50 and 18 Canada Geese flew west towards the Ouse.

Another circuit of the the dry valley just west of the bostal road this morning, this time in perfect early autumn sunshine. It yielded:
Spotted Flycatcher 1
Willow Warbler 3+
Red-legged Patridge 2
Common Buzzard 5+
Linnet several, including 1 juv.
Green Woodpecker 1
Also a big falcon seen distantly over Firle Plantation – either a wild Peregrine or a falconer’s bird.

To begin, the autumn’s first two Grey Wagtails around the buildings at Place Farm, Firle.

Three Green Sandpipers flew low south-west over the garden at 7 this morning, calling as they went.
These are my first for Firle, and a reminder that autumn migration is well underway for some northerly species. It’s also a wee bit depressing, seeing as we don’t seem to have had much of a summer here [...]
