A WRYNECK in a hawthorn bush on S side of river about 300m E of Glynde village at 09.30 this morning. It was very still for several minutes, upright on a vertical branch before disappearing into the bush. A beautiful evening, although the wind was starting to get up ahead of the showers that arrived overnight.

Deer from the train

While gazing out of the train window this evening, approaching Glynde, I saw a deer.
It’s the first I’ve ever seen from the train, and looked like a Roe (although it was a little way away, close to the trees by Ranscombe Lane).

A few summer visitors over the last few days… 3 House Martins at their favoured spot on Mill Lane on Good Friday were my first, then yesterday there were four Swallows over Firle village.
